Tehran – In a significant development for Iran’s vibrant cinematic landscape, the feature film “Cold Tea” (Chai Sard) has been officially approved for a nationwide theatrical release under the Art and Experience group. The film, written and directed by the acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Amir Ghassem Razi, has completed its administrative review process and is now slated for screening in selected cinemas across the country.
A Path to Theatrical Release
The journey of “Cold Tea” to the silver screen is a testament to the dynamic and evolving nature of Iran’s film industry. After two years of dedicated follow-up and administrative procedures to secure its release permit, the project successfully navigated the official channels. The film had initially received its production permits at various stages in 2019 and 2021. Principal photography commenced in 2022, following the subsidence of the COVID-19 pandemic, with technical and editing phases concluding in early 2023.
Following a review by the Screening Permit Council, the film underwent a further collaborative process with the Compliance Council. Through persistent efforts by the production team and constructive engagement with the new management at the Cinema Organization of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, all requisite approvals were finalized, paving the way for its inclusion in the Art and Experience cinematic program.

Set against the backdrop of a city celebrating the ancient festival of Chaharshanbe Suri (Fireworks Wednesday), the narrative follows Khosro, who suffers from respiratory problems but must prepare for the premiere of his new documentary that very night.
The film boasts a talented crew, including Director of Photography Shahin Eraghi, Editor Masoud Farjam, Sound Designer Hossein Ghorchian, and Music Composer Arman Moosapour. Amir Ghassem Razi also served as the producer, production designer, and costume designer for the project.
