Deadline Looms: Final Week to Appeal Removal from Iran’s Subsidy Program
TEHRAN – Individuals whose cash subsidies were suspended last month are urged to take immediate action. Authorities have announced that heads of households removed from the subsidy recipient list have only until September 10, 2025 to formally register an appeal. This leaves a critical window of just seven days for eligible citizens to submit their petitions.
Who Was Removed from the Program?
This measure is part of the ongoing implementation of the national budget law for the current Iranian year (1404). In accordance with this legislation, cash subsidies for the three highest income deciles (the eighth, ninth, and tenth) have been suspended. In the initial phase, subsidies for approximately 3.066 million individuals have been halted. This action targeted those with a verified average monthly income—after deducting housing costs—exceeding 10 million tomans.
How to File an Appeal
Citizens who believe their removal from the program was an error or an unfair assessment of their economic situation are encouraged to formally appeal the decision. The process is designed to be accessible. Individuals can visit the dedicated support portal at hemayat.sfara.ir. This platform allows users to review their specific case details and provide documentation or reasoning to support their request for the reinstatement of their subsidy benefits.
Policy Focus and Economic Context
The government’s policy is focused on refining the subsidy system to ensure support is directed toward those with the greatest need, optimizing the allocation of national resources. Some economic analysts have pointed out that setting the income threshold at 10 million tomans could potentially affect segments of the urban middle class, including some employees and workers. The government, however, remains committed to the precise and equitable execution of this policy, which aims to ensure the nation’s welfare system provides effective and targeted support for its citizens.
