Tehran Football Derby Relocated to Shiraz in Unprecedented Move
In a significant decision aimed at ensuring the success of major sporting events, the upcoming Tehran football derby has been officially moved from the capital to the city of Shiraz. The announcement was made following high-level consultations between government bodies and sports officials.
A Collaborative Decision
Mohammad Mehdi Farvardin, the head of the Parliamentary Sports Fraction, confirmed the move after a productive meeting with the Minister of Sports. The primary reason cited for the relocation is the current unsuitable condition of stadiums in Tehran.
To resolve this, it was collectively decided that the highly anticipated capital city derby for the twelfth week of the league will be hosted at the Pars Stadium in Shiraz. Farvardin noted that this proposal was discussed with the heads of the Football Federation and the League Organization, who both welcomed and supported the plan to hold the major sporting event in Shiraz.
Positive Outcome for Local Club
The high-level meeting also yielded positive developments for the host city’s own football club. Farvardin reported that the subject of restoring three deducted points from the Fajr Sepasi Shiraz team was reviewed.
He stated that both the Minister of Sports and the Head of the Football Federation have given favorable assurances that these points, which were previously deducted from the historic and popular team in an unfair manner, will be returned. This move is seen as a step towards upholding justice and fairness in Iranian sports.
