A Life Dedicated to National Advancement
Dr. Larijani’s distinguished career was characterized by an unwavering commitment to Iran’s progress and sovereignty. The official communiqué underscored his relentless efforts to foster national cohesion and unity among both the populace and officials. He consistently urged solidarity, especially in confronting formidable adversaries, viewing unity as fundamental to the nation’s strength and development. His final moments, the statement emphasized, were spent pursuing the glory and expansion of beloved Iran and seeking to elevate the word of God.
Circumstances of Martyrdom
According to the SNSC Secretariat, Dr. Larijani achieved martyrdom at dawn during the holy month of Ramadan. He was accompanied by his devout son, Morteza, Alireza Bayat, the Deputy Security of the SNSC Secretariat, and several valiant protectors, all of whom also perished in the incident. This tragic event has been framed by officials as the culmination of his sincere dedication and lifelong struggle.
A Revered Figure’s Legacy and Spiritual Ascent
The official announcement deeply reflected on the spiritual significance of Dr. Larijani’s martyrdom, invoking a Quranic verse: “Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah. Some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some are still waiting, and they have not changed in the least.” It stated that he “joined God,” embracing a long-held desire. The communiqué also noted his spiritual connection to revered figures, proclaiming he now stands alongside Imam Ali (AS), his teacher Ayatollah Motahhari, and his companions Hajj Qassem Soleimani and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Furthermore, his bond with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, described as a steadfast leader in the struggle against America and Israel, was highlighted.
National Resolve and Enduring Path
The SNSC Secretariat conveyed that this act of martyrdom will only serve to strengthen the Iranian nation’s resolve and determination to continue the path of these “men of God.” It affirmed that “certain victory awaits those who strive in the path of truth,” asserting that such sacrifices deepen the national commitment to ideals and sustained efforts for the nation’s future. The statement concluded with a powerful message for his memory to be eternal and his path to be widely followed, citing another Quranic verse: “So We took vengeance upon those who committed crimes, and it was incumbent upon Us to aid the believers.”
