New Insurance Scheme Paves Way for Retiree Employment and Economic Security
A new legislative initiative, the Drivers’ Insurance Plan, is set to bring significant benefits to a large segment of the driver community while offering a crucial economic lifeline for retirees. The plan, designed to facilitate comprehensive insurance coverage for drivers across the nation, is currently under parliamentary review.
Dual Benefits: Insurance and Employment
According to officials, the scheme’s approval would not only provide a vast number of drivers with essential insurance coverage but also formally open up employment opportunities for retirees within the transport sector. This addresses a key concern for many retirees who seek to supplement their pensions through part-time work, such as driving for online taxi services.
Ali Dehghan Kia, Head of the Tehran Social Security Retirees Association, elaborated on the plan’s significance for retirees. He stated that the comprehensive nature of the Drivers’ Insurance Plan would allow pensioners to earn an income through driving without the fear of having their pensions suspended, a common concern under current regulations.
Clarifying Misconceptions and Legislative Reform
Dehghan Kia also addressed what he described as misinformation surrounding the proposal. “Unfortunately, some individuals are exploiting the situation of retirees with the intention of misleading public opinion and creating incorrect anxieties among this group,” he remarked.
He clarified that under existing laws, any form of employment can sometimes lead to the suspension of pension payments, a issue that has affected some retirees following audits. However, he emphasized that both the Parliament and the Social Security Organization are actively working to amend the relevant laws to resolve this matter promptly.
A Path to Legal and Secure Employment
The official underscored that the passage of the Drivers’ Insurance Plan would effectively eliminate the legal ambiguities and financial worries for retirees. “With the approval of the plan by the Parliament, the concerns of retirees for working again without encountering problems in receiving their pensions will be resolved, and their activity will become legalized,” Dehghan Kia concluded. This legislative move is seen as a constructive step towards supporting the livelihood of retirees and integrating their valuable experience back into the workforce.
