Tehran Bolsters Citizen Protection, Unveils Governance Enhancements and Digital Reforms
Tehran is advancing its commitment to responsive governance and citizen welfare, with significant updates to its digital grievance system and ongoing administrative reforms. These initiatives aim to streamline public services, enhance accountability, and optimize government operations, according to Aladdin Rafiezadeh, Head of the Administrative and Recruitment Organization.
Expanding Citizen Grievance Channels
The “Fouad 128” system, a key platform for citizen complaints and feedback, has demonstrated remarkable efficiency in its first month of operation. Mr. Rafiezadeh reported that the average response time for the system has been reduced to under 2.5 hours, underscoring the government’s drive for prompt resolution of public concerns. In a major expansion of its scope, the Fouad 128 system will now integrate complaints related to airline services and private insurance companies, extending crucial consumer protection to these vital sectors. This nationwide implementation is slated to commence within the next two weeks, marking a significant step in accessible public service.
Strategic Administrative Reforms Underway
Further demonstrating its proactive approach to governance, the Iranian government has approved structural reforms within the Ministry of Economy. This significant overhaul, recently ratified by the Supreme Administrative Council, is part of a broader national initiative to modernize and streamline the country’s administrative framework. Mr. Rafiezadeh detailed that several departments within the ministry are undergoing comprehensive reviews, with others facing internal restructuring and downsizing efforts to enhance efficiency and optimize resource allocation.
Controlled Approach to Public Sector Employment
Regarding government employment, Mr. Rafiezadeh clarified that there are no new employment bills currently. Public sector recruitments are meticulously managed based on the national human resources program document and specific requests from executive agencies. A key focus is placed on staffing operational units, and recruitment permits are only issued after financial sustainability is thoroughly confirmed. This strategic approach ensures controlled and efficient allocation of human resources across government sectors.
