Title: CAS Rules Against Esteghlal FC in Player Contract Dispute, Imposes €300,000 Fine
A Costly Departure
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued a ruling against Esteghlal Football Club, ordering the prominent Iranian team to pay a fine of €300,000. The decision concludes a prolonged contractual dispute concerning the club’s former player, Kevin Yamga.
The case was initiated by Yamga’s Italian representative, Fabio Firmani, who pursued the financial claims after the club’s management, under the tenure of CEO Mostafa Ajorlu and the legal department headed by Farshid Samiei, was unable to settle the outstanding amount. The unresolved matter was subsequently escalated to the international sports court for arbitration.
A Call for Administrative Clarity
While the CAS ruling has brought a legal resolution to the financial claim, it has also cast a spotlight on internal club procedures. The verdict is expected to prompt a thorough review of contract management protocols within the club’s legal department.
In light of the decision, it is anticipated that the club’s officials will provide the necessary transparency and documentation to relevant supervisory bodies, ensuring that administrative practices are aligned with international standards and safeguarding the club’s esteemed reputation in future dealings.
