A new supplementary health insurance plan, Ekmal, has been introduced for retirees and pensioners covered under the National Retirement Fund. The program aims to bridge gaps in basic and existing supplementary insurance coverage, ensuring broader medical benefits for beneficiaries and their families.
Registration Now Open in Select Provinces
Enrollment for Ekmal has begun in provinces such as Kerman and Alborz. According to officials, the plan will cover medical expenses not included in standard insurance policies.
Maryam Yazdanpanah, head of the Atieh Sazan Hafez branch in Kerman, stated:
“Retirees, pensioners, and their families—provided they hold existing supplementary insurance—are eligible for Ekmal coverage. Those enrolled in the 2024 contract will automatically renew unless they opt out by September 21.”

- Duration: The policy runs from July 23, 2024, to July 21, 2025.
- Eligibility: Retirees, pensioners, and their dependents (spouses, children, and parents with valid documentation) under the Alborz Education Ministry’s supplementary insurance.
- Automatic Renewal: Previous Ekmal policyholders need not re-register.
- New Applicants: Can enroll via:
- Atieh Sazan Hafez’s online portal.
- Local retirement associations.
- In-person at Atieh Sazan Hafez offices.

Medical claims will be processed within 10 business days. The plan includes dental and pharmacy services through partnered providers.

- Premiums: Deducted from salaries starting July 23, regardless of registration date.
