Title: Government Announces Fourth Phase of Essential Goods Subsidy Program
In a move to bolster economic support for citizens, the Iranian government has officially launched the fourth phase of its electronic coupon (e-coupon) subsidy program. The initiative, which provides assistance for the purchase of essential goods, is part of a broader social welfare strategy.
Latest Phase Rollout Begins
Ahmad Meidari, Minister of Cooperation, Labour, and Social Welfare, announced that the new distribution phase will commence on Wednesday, September 19th. The date holds cultural significance, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), marking the initiative with a tone of communal support and blessing.
Staged Implementation for Efficiency
The minister detailed that the rollout will be conducted in a staged manner to ensure smooth administration. The subsidy will first be allocated to the first three income deciles (the 30% of households with the lowest incomes). The program will subsequently be extended to other eligible deciles on dates to be announced shortly, continuing the government’s targeted approach to economic aid.
Building on Previous Success
Minister Meidari emphasized that the operational process will remain consistent with previous phases, which were carried out without significant issues. He expressed confidence that the fourth phase would proceed equally smoothly, enabling citizens to seamlessly benefit from this form of subsistence support. The government has established multiple communication channels, including SMS systems, social media platforms, and dedicated hotlines, to address any potential citizen inquiries promptly.
Utilizing the Current Phase
This announcement follows the recent charging of the third phase of the e-coupon for the first seven income deciles. Citizens have until the end of the Iranian month of Shahrivar to utilize those subsidies for the purchase of 11 designated essential goods. The continued rollout of this program highlights the government’s sustained commitment to supporting citizens’ livelihoods.
