Title: New “Mother’s Hope Card” Initiative Launches to Support Rural Families and National Population Goals
In a significant step to support Iranian families and national population objectives, the second National Campaign for Rural and Nomadic Youthfulness was inaugurated at the Razavi Holy Shrine conference center. The event underscored the vital role of rural families in achieving the goals of the Law on Family Protection and Youthful Population.
A National Campaign for Families
Officially launched with the support of the Office of the Supreme Leader’s Representative in the Jihad Agriculture Organization, the campaign aims to promote a culture of childbearing and honor rural families. Mehdi Malmir, Deputy of the National Population Youth Headquarters, detailed that the campaign will cover rural and nomadic families who have had children in the current Iranian year (1403), including those with twins, triplets, or more.
Cultural and Economic Support in Focus
Malmir emphasized that the campaign is designed within the framework of the Comprehensive Law on Family Protection and Youthful Population. “Beyond the envisaged welfare, economic, and medical facilities, these actions have a cultural dimension and specifically promote childbearing in rural communities,” he stated. This dual approach seeks to both support families materially and reinforce the social value of raising children.
Reinvigorating Rural Life
Addressing demographic shifts, Malmir highlighted the unique advantages of rural life, describing it as a natural and free environment that remains one of the best places for children to grow. He affirmed that while a majority of the population now resides in cities, the foundation of development and production lies in the villages, and there are no limitations for childbearing in these areas.
“Mother’s Hope Card” to Provide Monthly Support
A key announcement from the conference was the operationalization of the “Mother’s Hope Card” starting next year. Under this initiative, a monthly payment of 2 million Tomans will be allocated to both urban and rural mothers upon the birth of a child. Malmir clarified that this measure is not only a financial support mechanism but also a gesture of respect for motherhood and an encouragement for childbearing.
The Deputy concluded by reiterating the commitment of the National Population Youth Headquarters to take concrete steps, however small, on the vital national issue of population, aiming to support healthy and stable families and build a foundation for a young, capable, and dynamic population for the country. Further announcements of new incentives for Iranian families are also expected from the Minister of Roads and Urban Development during the conference.
