Title: Resolution Passed to Unblock iPhone Units, Easing Access for Users and Retailers
Tehran – In a significant development for the mobile phone market, a resolution has been approved to unblock approximately 12,000 iPhone units that had been restricted in the national registration system.
Addressing a Market Irregularity
The issue arose due to violations and incomplete declarations by certain importing companies, leading to the blockage of the devices in the “Hamta” system. Seyed Hassan Sadaat Hosseini, Head of the Mobile and Accessories Commission of Iran’s Chamber of Guilds, clarified that the affected mobile phones were not smuggled but were blocked specifically due to these import-related infractions.
A Coordinated Resolution
Following extensive investigations and repeated follow-ups by the Commission, a solution was reached. “After the conducted reviews and persistent follow-ups by the commission, as well as numerous correspondences by the Head of Iran’s Chamber of Guilds with the Headquarters for Combating the Smuggling of Goods and Currency and the operators of the Hamta system, a resolution was finally issued to unblock the aforementioned iPhones,” Hosseini stated.
The resolution is designed to protect retailers and consumers who acted in good faith. It stipulates that guild units (retailers) who had no complicity in the violation and sold the phones without awareness of the importers’ malfeasance will be cleared. Crucially, individuals who purchased these iPhones in good faith will also have their devices unblocked.
Path Forward for Users
Hosseini announced that owners of the affected iPhones will be able to have their devices unblocked and registered in the coming days. “The owners of the purchased iPhones can follow up on the unblocking of their phones and proceed with registration through the relevant guild unions in all cities within the next few days,” he confirmed.
This move is expected to regularize a segment of the market and provide relief to both legitimate businesses and consumers who found themselves impacted by the actions of a few importers.
