Fourth Phase of Electronic Voucher Scheme Launched to Support Low-Income Families
Tehran – In a significant move to bolster social welfare, the Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare has announced the imminent disbursement of the fourth phase of the Electronic Voucher Scheme, timed to coincide with the birth anniversary of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH).
Direct Support for Vulnerable Households
Minister Ahmad Meydari stated on Saturday that the credits for the fourth phase of the program will be deposited into the accounts of eligible households from the first to the third income deciles on Wednesday, September 9th. This initiative is designed to provide direct support for low-income families and strengthen their food baskets.
Each eligible individual within these deciles is set to receive a monthly credit of 500,000 Tomans through the scheme.
Funding Secured Through Strategic Budget Management
Hassan Nowrouzi, the Managing Director of the Subsidy Targeting Organization, confirmed that a substantial sum of 27 trillion Tomans has been allocated for this phase. The funds have already been deposited into the account of the executive company responsible for the scheme.
Contrary to the specific funding avenues outlined in the initial budget law, which designated the removal of subsidies for upper-income deciles and Value-Added Tax (VAT) revenues as the primary sources, the government has utilized its legal authority to ensure the program’s continuity. The Vice President clarified that this round of funding has been secured through strategic internal budget reallocations within the general budget, resources from the Subsidy Targeting Organization, and a reprioritization of expenditures that emphasizes the livelihood of the first to seventh deciles. The Plan and Budget Organization has confirmed this approach, noting it was achieved through lawful budgetary reallocations.
A Commitment to Social Welfare
This announcement underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to its social support policies. By leveraging flexible budgetary tools, the administration has ensured the timely execution of a program aimed squarely at providing for the essential needs of its citizens. The rapid deployment of these funds highlights a focused effort to address economic pressures on vulnerable segments of society.
The continuation of the Electronic Voucher Scheme represents a key component of the nation’s comprehensive social safety net, reflecting a dedicated policy to safeguard the well-being of its people.
