Title: Iranian Parliament Announces New Subsidy Payout Schedule, Backed by Major Currency Allocation
In a significant parliamentary address, a senior Iranian official has detailed the government’s latest measures to bolster public welfare through a reinforced subsidy system, underscoring the state’s commitment to economic stability.
Parliamentary Focus on Public Welfare
During a session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Hamidreza Hajibabaei, the Deputy Speaker, announced the forthcoming payment of subsidies and the allocation of substantial foreign currency resources aimed at supporting citizens’ livelihoods. He emphasized that the economic well-being of the people is the foremost priority of the Islamic Republic.
Substantial Financial Commitment Revealed
Highlighting the scale of the government’s support, Hajibabaei stated, “This year, including debts, approximately $20 billion has been allocated for subsidies on essential goods and medicine.” He further noted that with such a significant volume of currency resources dedicated to supplying basic commodities, it is imperative that market disruptions and widespread price hikes are effectively addressed.
Push for Efficient Implementation
A key part of the strategy involves the full operationalization of the electronic coupon scheme (Good Voucher). The Deputy Speaker urged the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare to expedite its executive plan for the initiative, which was approved by parliament in the previous Iranian year. He stressed that the proper execution of this plan would lead to better organization of subsidies, more precise targeting, and a reduction of economic pressure on vulnerable segments of society.
Cross-Branch Collaboration for Public Satisfaction
Reiterating that the “most important priority of the parliament is public satisfaction,” Hajibabaei acknowledged public concerns over price increases and market volatility. He assured that the parliament, in close cooperation with the government and the judiciary, is seriously engaged in the matter and is striving to restore calm and satisfaction to society through effective oversight and decision-making.
The official expressed hope that through the synergy of the three branches of government, livelihood challenges would be mitigated, and support schemes like the electronic coupon and cash subsidies would be implemented with greater precision and fairness.
