Title: Vice Speaker Haj Babaei Reaffirms Commitment to Subsidies, Stresses Economic Stability
Tehran – In a significant address to the parliament, a senior Iranian official has firmly dismissed rumors regarding the removal of essential subsidies, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting citizens’ livelihoods.
Economic Support Confirmed
During a parliamentary session on Tuesday, Hamidreza Haj Babaei, the Vice Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, announced that approximately $20 billion has been allocated for subsidies on essential goods and medicine for the current year. This substantial financial commitment, calculated after accounting for liabilities, is designed to ensure the continued availability of key commodities for the public.
“The great nation of Iran has powerfully advanced the Islamic Revolution and deserves appropriate services,” Haj Babaei stated, emphasizing that the people’s livelihood remains the top priority for the system.
A Call for Order and Precision
While highlighting the scale of the subsidy payments, the Vice Speaker also issued a clear call for administrative efficiency. He asserted that despite this significant financial support, any disorder within society under these conditions is unacceptable. He urged relevant authorities to exercise greater precision in their planning and follow-up measures to ensure the seamless delivery of these benefits.
Implementing the Rationing Scheme
Further detailing the legislative body’s economic plans, Haj Babaei directed the Ministry of Welfare to expedite the implementation of the “Goods Coupon” or rationing scheme. This plan, which was approved by the parliament in the previous Iranian calendar year (2023), is intended to be rolled out for its target population. He confirmed that this initiative is under the close supervision of the parliament and its speaker.
The Paramount Goal: Public Satisfaction
Concluding his address, the Vice Speaker placed a strong emphasis on public satisfaction as the primary objective of the parliament. Acknowledging that citizens have been distressed by issues such as inflation and economic pressures, he assured that the parliament is actively and decisively addressing these concerns.
“The Islamic Parliament of Iran has powerfully entered this arena and will carry out the necessary cooperation with the government and the judiciary to resolve these problems and create public satisfaction,” Haj Babaei declared, reinforcing the state’s coordinated approach to economic challenges.
