Iranian Government Announces Major Expansion of Military Retirees’ Welfare Card
In a significant move to support its military veterans, the Iranian government has approved a substantial increase in the credit limit of the “Hekmat Card,” a dedicated welfare and purchasing program for armed forces retirees.
A Substantial Credit Boost
The card’s monthly purchasing credit has been raised from 1.3 million tomans to 6 million tomans. This represents an increase of approximately 4.7 times the previous amount. Furthermore, the ceiling for installment purchases has been significantly elevated by 112.8 million tomans. This decision, made on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS), is designed to markedly improve retirees’ purchasing power and facilitate their access to goods and services.
Key Benefits of the Hekmat Card
The Hekmat Card offers retirees several distinct advantages:
- Installment Purchases: It enables buying without a down payment or the need for a guarantor.
- Wide Usability: The card is accepted at Etka stores and all other contracted retail partners.
- Regular Refills: Credit is routinely charged onto the card by the Social Affairs and Etka organizations.
- Flexibility: It can be used for both in-person and online purchases.
Checking Your Balance
Retirees can easily check their Hekmat Card balance through three convenient methods:
- Phone Inquiry: Via a dedicated telephone service.
- SMS Inquiry: By sending the card number to 100061915.
- Dedicated App: The “Hekmat Card” application provides 24/7 access to balances, transaction history, and online shopping.
Impact on Retirees’ Livelihoods
This enhancement is particularly impactful under current economic conditions, as it is expected to help mitigate inflationary pressures and substantially increase retirees’ disposable income. The new, higher installment limit will allow veterans to more easily acquire durable goods such as refrigerators, televisions, and furniture.
A Governmental Initiative for Veteran Welfare
This policy underscores the government’s focused attention on the welfare of armed forces retirees. Many experts believe this measure will be highly effective in improving the quality of life for retirees and alleviating their financial challenges, reflecting a continued commitment to those who have served.
