Iranian Province Expands Healthcare Access, Covers 95% of Diabetic Treatment Costs
In a significant move to bolster public healthcare, the Health Insurance Organization in Sistan and Baluchestan province has announced that it now covers approximately 95% of treatment costs for diabetic patients. This initiative is part of a broader governmental strategy to support citizens with special medical conditions.
Expansive Coverage for Vulnerable Groups
Detailing the scope of the province’s healthcare system, Mr. Shahriar Shahraki, the Managing Director of Health Insurance in Sistan and Baluchestan, highlighted the extensive support for lower-income families. He reported that over 2.2 million citizens in the province are covered by free health insurance, with comprehensive support services specifically extended to the five lowest income deciles.
Substantial Financial Commitment to Public Health
The commitment to enhancing healthcare quality and reducing out-of-pocket expenses for citizens is further evidenced by the organization’s financial expenditures. Mr. Shahraki stated that in the past year alone, payments for medical services, pharmacies, addiction treatment centers, rehabilitation, and family physician programs exceeded 4,462 billion tomans. This substantial investment underscores the ongoing efforts to improve and expand the provincial healthcare infrastructure.
