Iran’s Health Ministry Details Extensive Impact on Healthcare Infrastructure, Affirms National Resilience
Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education has released a comprehensive report detailing the significant impact of recent events on the nation’s healthcare infrastructure and personnel, while simultaneously affirming the government’s unwavering commitment to public welfare. The report, covering data up to March 25th (Farvardin 5), highlights substantial damages to medical facilities and tragic losses among dedicated health workers, underscoring the challenges faced by the national health system.
Critical Infrastructure Under Strain
According to the Ministry’s announcement, a total of 226 medical and health units have sustained damage. Of particular concern, 12 hospitals have been rendered completely non-operational, posing a significant challenge to healthcare provision in affected areas. Additionally, seven medical centers have been evacuated due to their proximity to areas impacted by recent incidents, further constraining service capacity.
The emergency services sector has also experienced considerable disruption, with 49 emergency bases and 38 ambulances reported damaged. These losses directly affect the rapid response capabilities crucial for immediate medical intervention and patient transport.
Sacrifices and Unwavering Dedication of Health Personnel
The report tragically confirms the martyrdom of 23 health professionals, who lost their lives while serving the nation during these challenging times. Furthermore, 112 health staff members sustained injuries, reflecting the perilous conditions under which medical personnel operate. Their sacrifice and dedication remain a cornerstone of the national response, inspiring continued efforts across the healthcare sector.
Sustained Operations and Government Commitment
Despite the considerable setbacks to infrastructure and personnel, the Ministry of Health emphasized the ongoing robust operations of the national healthcare system. The report indicates that 902 surgeries have been successfully performed within the reporting period, and 924 patients are currently receiving inpatient care at various medical centers.
