Trump Seeks Legacy Through Ukraine-Russia Mediation, Citing Personal Motive
Former US President Donald Trump has articulated a deeply personal reason for his ambition to broker a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia, framing it as a matter of his own eternal destiny.
In a recent telephone interview with Fox News, Trump stated that successfully helping to end the ongoing conflict would be a significant factor in securing his place in heaven. He expressed a strong desire to conclude wars, emphasizing the human cost of the continued fighting.
A Drive for Resolution and Salvation
“I want to end wars,” Trump was quoted as saying. “If I can save seven thousand lives a week, I will have done a great job. I would like to go to heaven, if possible. I’ve been told my situation is not good and that I’m in the lowest category. If I get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”
The former president reiterated his primary objective is simply to see the war concluded, highlighting a desire to prevent the loss of American lives while acknowledging the heavy toll on Russian and Ukrainian soldiers.
Pointing to a Past Diplomatic Success
To underscore his capability as a mediator, Trump referenced a previous diplomatic achievement during his tenure. He claimed credit for having prevented a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan, an act he stated saved a tremendous number of lives. This statement appears to be part of his broader argument for a unique personal ability to de-escalate major international crises.
