Hormozgan Braces for Dynamic Weather: Maritime Caution and Mountain Showers Forecast
Residents and mariners in Iran’s strategic Hormozgan province are advised to prepare for a day of active and varied weather patterns on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
According to a detailed report from the Hormozgan Meteorological Department, conditions will demand heightened awareness across different regions of the province, which is pivotal to the nation’s maritime and economic activities.
Maritime Advisory: Exercise Caution
The primary forecast, delivered by expert Mojtaba Hamzenejad, indicates an increase in southeasterly winds across maritime zones, coastal areas, islands, and the Strait of Hormuz. These conditions are expected to create rough and wavy seas, particularly through the midday hours.
In light of this, officials have issued a strong recommendation for all vessel traffic, especially lighter and recreational craft, to proceed with utmost caution to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
Inland Forecast: Thunderstorms and Potential for Dust
The weather picture shifts inland for the afternoon and early evening. Mr. Hamzenejad indicated the development of convective clouds over elevated terrains and parts of the province, with a specific emphasis on the Bashagard county area.
This cloud activity is forecast to lead to scattered showers, thunderstorms, occasional hail, and sudden, gusty winds. These conditions carry the potential for the flash flooding of seasonal rivers, urging residents in affected areas to remain vigilant.
Conversely, in regions where the necessary conditions for rainfall are not met, there is a significant possibility of dust formation and a consequent reduction in air quality.
