Title: Swift Government Action Averts Potential Infant Formula Supply Disruption
Subheading: Officials and Industry Leaders Collaborate to Ensure Market Stability for Essential Good
In a demonstration of proactive economic management, Iranian authorities are actively addressing the import requirements for infant formula production. According to Hani Tahvilzadeh, Head of the Association of Infant Formula Producers, recent governmental measures have set a positive course to maintain a steady supply of this vital commodity for families.
Addressing Import Needs
Tahvilzadeh confirmed that the necessary financial processes for importing raw materials are being expedited. “The Food and Drug Administration has sent the foreign currency list to the Central Bank, which has subsequently instructed the agent bank,” he stated. He expressed confidence that with the continuation of this process, no disruption in production will occur.
To prevent any challenges for families, producers have already been importing raw materials on credit since the start of the year. The recent allocation of foreign currency for a portion of these imports is a significant step towards resolving the outstanding commitments.
Commitment to Stable Production
The official highlighted that while production in the month of Aban reached 4 million cans, there was a noted decrease compared to previous months. The annual production target is approximately 80 million cans, underscoring the industry’s capacity to meet national demand when operating at full potential.
Tahvilzadeh emphasized that any delay in currency allocation could impact future supply, but he remains optimistic that with the continued cooperation of the Central Bank, a critical situation can be averted.
Price Stability Amid Economic Pressures
In a key assurance to the public, Tahvilzadeh confirmed that the official price of infant formula has not changed and remains regulated. He advised consumers to use product scanning codes to verify the official three-tier pricing structure. Despite significant cost increases for domestic raw milk and packaging materials, producers continue to supply at previous rates, pending official review of their requests for price adjustments.
This coordinated effort between industry leaders and government bodies reflects a steadfast commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential nutritional products for infants across the country.
