International Health Body’s Message Amplified Amidst Reports of Infrastructure Damage
TEHRAN – Iran’s top diplomat has echoed the concerns raised by the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), amplifying the international health chief’s message regarding significant disruptions to healthcare facilities within the country. The proactive stance by senior Iranian officials underscores a commitment to transparency and a shared desire for stability in the region.
The WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, recently took to social media platform X to highlight reports detailing attacks on healthcare centers in Iran’s capital, Tehran. These reports indicated substantial damage to the Pasteur Institute of Iran, rendering it incapable of continuing its vital health service provision. Notably, two departments within the Pasteur Institute were identified as collaborators with the WHO, underscoring the international implications of the disruptions.
Further reports detailed serious damage sustained by the Delaram Sina Psychiatric Hospital following an incident on March 29th. Additionally, the Toufigh Daru pharmaceutical complex, a crucial producer of medications for cancer and multiple sclerosis (MS) patients, was also mentioned in the context of these incidents. An explosion was also reported near Imam Ali Hospital in Andimeshk, Khuzestan Province.
In response to these reports, the Iranian official’s reiteration of the WHO chief’s message signals a significant point of engagement, emphasizing the importance of robust and uninterrupted healthcare services.
