The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has advised citizens to remove WhatsApp from their mobile phones, citing concerns that the application is collecting user data and providing location and communication information to “the Zionist enemy.”
According to reports from informed sources, IRIB announced that WhatsApp is allegedly gathering personal data, including users’ latest locations and communications, which are then “tagged and provided to the Zionist enemy.”
The state broadcaster has urged the public to uninstall the WhatsApp application from their mobile devices as a precautionary measure.
