Tehran, Iran – In a significant diplomatic outreach, Iran has presented a comprehensive 10-point plan aimed at fostering lasting peace and security across the region. President Masoud Pezeshkian outlined the initiative during a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to de-escalation and responsible conflict resolution.
Regional Tensions and Iran’s Stance
President Pezeshkian articulated Iran’s perspective on the recent military escalations, highlighting his grave distrust of the United States due to past actions that he described as betrayals of diplomacy and military aggression against Iranian citizens. He characterized the recent military actions by the U.S. and Israel as a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, deeming them war crimes.
A Commitment to Diplomacy and Ceasefire
Underscoring Iran’s responsible approach, President Pezeshkian stated that the Islamic Republic accepted a ceasefire as a foundational step towards a complete cessation of hostilities and the establishment of enduring peace and security in the region. He reiterated that Iran’s willingness to accept a ceasefire demonstrates its seriousness in pursuing diplomatic solutions. To this end, the general framework of Iran’s 10-point plan has been conveyed to the American side as a basis for achieving a ceasefire and ending the conflict.

The President also pointed out that the insecurity currently impacting the region and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of military aggressions. He clarified that the measures taken by Iran were in accordance with international law and were implemented to prevent aggressors from exploiting this vital waterway for further attacks against Iran.

During the conversation, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi expressed her regret over the loss of Iranian lives and damage to civilian infrastructure during the recent conflict. She stressed the urgent need to reduce tensions in the region.
