Iranian President Appoints Wrestling Champion Alireza Dabir to High Sports Council
In a significant move to bolster the nation’s sports governance, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued separate decrees appointing six new members to the country’s Supreme Council of Sports and Physical Education. The appointments include prominent figures from across the sporting community, with Olympic wrestling champion Alireza Dabir being a notable addition.

The newly appointed members represent a cross-section of Iran’s major sporting institutions. The list includes:
- Morteza Ghorbani, President of the Shooting Federation.
- Ali Baran-Cheshmeh, President of the Zurkhaneh Sports and Pahlavan Federation.
- Mahmoud Khosravi-Vafa, President of the National Olympic Committee.
- Ghafour Kargari, President of the National Paralympic Committee.
President Pezeshkian, acting on the proposal of the Minister of Sports and Youth, also appointed wrestling legend Alireza Dabir and Maryam Monazam to the council.
