US Bears Responsibility for Escalating Lebanon Conflict Amidst Ceasefire Violations
Tehran Condemns Israeli Aggression, Cites Breach of US-Brokered Understanding
Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has vehemently condemned what it described as “brutal attacks” by the Israeli regime on various areas in Lebanon, resulting in significant casualties among Lebanese civilians. The spokesperson for the ministry denounced the actions as a “heinous and shameful crime.”
The condemnation comes amidst a broader understanding brokered between Iran and the United States, with Pakistan acting as an intermediary. According to Iranian officials, this understanding explicitly included Lebanon within the scope of the ceasefire. The Prime Minister of Pakistan had previously clarified that halting hostilities on the Lebanese front was an integral component of the Iran-US ceasefire agreement.
Clear Violation of Ceasefire Agreement
“The brutal attacks today by the Zionist regime on various parts of Lebanon, which led to the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of Lebanese citizens, is a clear violation of this understanding,” stated the Foreign Ministry spokesperson. The ministry emphasized that these actions constitute a direct breach of commitments made by the US government.
US Directly Implicated in Escalation
The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a stern warning regarding the “extremely dangerous consequences” of the Israeli regime’s “criminal actions,” highlighting the deliberate targeting of Lebanese civilians and the destruction of residential areas. The spokesperson directly attributed responsibility to the United States government for these developments.
Condolences and Solidarity Extended
In light of the tragic events, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The ministry also expressed solidarity with the people and government of Lebanon.
