Iran Reaffirms Openness to IAEA Cooperation, Backed by Diplomatic Engagements
Tehran’s Stance on Nuclear Dialogue
A senior advisor to Iran’s leadership has stated that the country is prepared to consider any proposals from Russia and China aimed at revitalizing cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The remarks were made by Kamal Kharrazi, advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and head of the Strategic Relations Council, in an interview with the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
This public affirmation underscores Iran’s continued diplomatic engagement on the international stage regarding its nuclear energy program.
Diplomatic Coordination with Moscow
The statement follows a recent telephone conversation between Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. The two diplomats engaged in discussions concerning the latest developments in bilateral, regional, and international affairs.
During their call, Minister Araghchi emphasized the continuity of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA. He also categorically rejected the alleged “snap-back” mechanism sought by some Western countries, asserting that the IAEA must maintain its impartiality and refrain from actions that lead to increased tensions.
A Unified Front for Peaceful Program
Both sides, referencing the upcoming meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, reiterated their shared position. They reaffirmed the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program and agreed on the importance of coordinated stances and mutual cooperation within this framework. This alignment highlights ongoing strategic partnerships as Iran navigates its international engagements.
