Title: President Pezeshkian Chairs Government Council, Prioritizing Economic Resilience and Public Welfare
In a significant meeting of the state administration, President Masoud Pezeshkian outlined a clear agenda focused on economic stability, efficient governance, and national unity.
A Focus on Energy and Economic Security
The 115th session of the Government Council, chaired by President Pezeshkian, convened to review key national programs. The Minister of Energy provided a detailed report on the progress of solar power plant construction across the country and outlined comprehensive preparations by all ministries to ensure energy stability for the upcoming winter.
Addressing this report, President Pezeshkian issued a firm directive, stating, “The activities of industries and production factories must not be halted under any circumstances due to shortages of electricity or gas.” He simultaneously emphasized the critical need for all executive bodies to reduce and optimize their operational costs, urging officials to lead by example in practicing frugality and correct consumption to enhance productivity.
Streamlining Services and Engaging Expertise
A major part of the discussion centered on facilitating the affairs of the public and business community. President Pezeshkian stressed the importance of creating a unified command, particularly in institutions like customs, to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles. “Through coordination and removing the multiplicity of procedures, the work of the people and merchants must be carried out with ease and speed,” he stated, linking this efficiency directly to enhancing societal resilience.
Further underscoring a policy of inclusivity, the President highlighted the vital role of the nation’s specialists. He cautioned against excluding scientific and expert forces from academic and specialized centers for unfounded reasons. “The enemy’s strategy is to see our capable and influential forces become estranged and dissatisfied,” Pezeshkian noted. “Therefore, we must not, with our own hands, help advance this objective.”
Diplomatic Report and Budget Reform
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also briefed the council on his negotiations with European countries and the American side before and during his trip to New York. He clarified that all necessary diplomatic efforts and flexibilities were undertaken to reach an understanding. However, as anticipated, this path did not reach a conclusion due to obstructions by the American side.
Concluding the meeting, the Vice President for Executive Affairs presented a report on operationalizing a performance-based budgeting system. President Pezeshkian endorsed the plan, stating that the current salary payment system is neither fair nor efficient. He directed the government to finalize and implement the new performance-based budgeting and payment system as soon as possible to address disparities and enhance the effectiveness of the state apparatus.
