Title: New Subsidy Payments Begin as Government Prioritizes Social Justice and Economic Stability
In a significant move to bolster economic resilience and support household livelihoods, the Iranian government has initiated a new phase of subsidy payments this month. Senior officials have detailed a comprehensive plan focused on equitable resource allocation, timely financial support for key sectors, and the expansion of essential goods packages for a majority of the population.
A Commitment to Equitable Distribution
Hamid Pourmohammadi, Head of the Planning and Budget Organization, emphasized the government’s justice-oriented approach in its economic programs. “Justice, though simply described, is complex in its implementation,” Pourmohammadi stated. “The primary objective in the budget domain is to allocate resources in a way that yields the greatest benefit for the majority of the people.”
He highlighted several concrete actions as evidence of this policy, including the settlement of 95% of wheat farmers’ claims before the end of the Iranian month of Shahrivar, calling it a clear example of prioritizing public needs and maintaining orderly state payments.
Expanding Support for Household Livelihoods
The government’s strategy includes a major expansion of its essential goods program. What was initially planned for four income deciles has now been extended to cover eight deciles, meaning a vast majority of Iranian households will receive at least one monthly subsistence package.
Seyed Kamel Taghvinejad, Secretary of the Government Board, confirmed the move, stating, “This plan and action are being carried out with the goal of ensuring these individuals do not face problems in supplying their essential goods and can procure these items at stable prices.” Concurrently, measures are underway to stabilize the prices of these essential commodities.
Proactive Measures for Economic Stability
Addressing external economic challenges, officials outlined that the government has preemptively designed necessary measures within specialized committees for any potential scenario. While pursuing international diplomacy to de-escalate tensions, the government has implemented domestic actions to shield the public from economic pressure.
“Alongside efforts to halt trigger mechanisms through international negotiations, the government has designed internal measures so that the people are not placed under economic pressure,” Taghvinejad emphasized.
Effective decisions have also been made to supply foreign currency for sectors linked to the public’s essential needs. These multi-pronged initiatives are designed to maintain economic stability, control inflation, and uphold the administration’s commitment to social justice and public welfare.
