New Weather System to Bring Relief and Challenges to Northern Iran
A significant shift in weather patterns is set to impact northern Iran, bringing anticipated rainfall and a drop in temperatures, according to the country’s meteorological authority.
Detailed Forecast Unveiled
Sadeq Ziaeian, Head of the National Center for Weather Forecasting and Crisis Management, provided a detailed breakdown of the incoming conditions. He stated that while Monday will see relatively stable weather across most of the country, the situation will begin to change by late evening in the northwestern highlands with increasing clouds and scattered showers.
The primary change is expected from Tuesday afternoon. “With the infiltration of northern currents to the west of the Caspian Sea coasts,” Ziaeian explained, “cloudiness, rainfall, occasional thunderstorms, wind, and a relative drop in temperature will occur in the east of Ardabil, Gilan, and Mazandaran provinces.”
Prolonged Precipitation in the North
The unsettled conditions are forecast to persist. Ziaeian indicated that on Wednesday, cloudiness and rainfall will continue in some areas of the northwest and the Caspian Sea coasts. A final round of scattered showers is expected across the northern strip of the country on Thursday before conditions stabilize.
Wind and Air Quality Advisory
Alongside the beneficial rains, the forecast also highlights potential challenges. The eastern regions and the southern slopes of the Alborz mountain range are expected to experience strong winds and occasional dust, which could lead to a reduction in air quality. This pattern of strong, dusty winds is also predicted for the western half of the country and the southern Alborz slopes on Tuesday.
Capital City Outlook
For the capital, Tehran, the forecast is for generally stable conditions. Monday’s sky is reported as clear with morning haze, followed by an increase in clouds during the afternoon. Minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively. Over the next five days, Tehran’s skies are predicted to be clear to partly cloudy with mild afternoon winds. However, due to relative atmospheric stability, there is a possibility of localized, thin dust formation and a relative decrease in air quality, particularly until Tuesday.
