Title: Tehran Proposes 36.8% Increase in School Transport Fees for Upcoming Academic Year
Tehran’s School Transport Fee Hike Proposal Submitted
Shadi Maleki, speaking on the proposed school transport service rates for the upcoming academic year, stated that the draft legislation has been submitted to the Tehran City Council. The proposal suggests a 36.8% increase compared to last year’s rates. Maleki expressed hope that the council would approve the measure, allowing its implementation.
Registration and Service Providers in Progress
So far, 8,000 students have registered for school transport services through the “Sepand” system, while 112 companies have applied to provide these services. Of these, 71 companies have already been approved for eligibility.
Eligibility Requirements Clarified
Maleki, who serves as the CEO of Tehran’s Taxi Organization, clarified that licensed taxi drivers do not need additional verification to offer student transport services, as their taxi permits suffice. However, private vehicle owners must complete administrative procedures before eligibility.
Service Allocation Begins in September
The allocation of school transport services is set to begin in September via the Sepand system, ensuring a structured process for the new academic year. The proposed fee adjustment aims to maintain service quality while addressing operational costs.
