Iran Launches “Simin System” to Modernize and Streamline National Subsidy Program
In a significant step towards digital transformation and enhanced social welfare, Iran has officially launched the “Simin System,” a new integrated platform designed to modernize the administration of the country’s subsidy program. The initiative, spearheaded by the Subsidy Targeting Organization, aims to increase efficiency, transparency, and citizen satisfaction.
A Digital Leap for Social Welfare
The Simin System represents the first major step in the digital evolution of Iran’s social welfare structure. By migrating the household information database and streamlining management processes, the platform is poised to revolutionize how subsidies are allocated and managed.
According to Alireza Mousavi Delkhosh, Head of the Information Technology Center at the Subsidy Targeting Organization, the system is a cornerstone of the government’s commitment to technological progress and equitable resource distribution. “The Simin System is the first step in the digital transformation of the country’s social welfare system,” he stated, emphasizing its role in allocating subsidy resources “more efficiently and fairly.”
How the Simin System Works
Built on a service-oriented architecture, the Simin System facilitates seamless and secure data exchange between key government entities, including the Civil Registration Organization, the Planning and Budget Organization, and the national banking network. This integration minimizes human error and ensures the accurate and fair distribution of subsidies.
Key features and benefits for citizens include:
- Automated Account Management: The ability to register or change a bank account number entirely online, with automatic validation of account details.
- Real-Time Family Structure Updates: Direct linkage to the Civil Registration database ensures household information is updated instantly, guaranteeing subsidies are allocated based on the most current data.
- E-Voucher Option: Recipients can choose to convert a portion of their cash subsidy into an electronic voucher credit, which is dedicated solely to the purchase of essential goods.
- Full Transparency: Users can view their payment history, precise subsidy amounts, account status, and a log of all their submitted requests.
Future Expansion and Broader Impact
The rollout of the Simin System is only the beginning. The Subsidy Targeting Organization has announced plans to integrate non-cash subsidies into the platform in the near future. This expansion will cover areas such as pharmaceutical subsidies, fuel quotas, and subsidies for guaranteed purchase of agricultural products.
Upon full implementation, the Simin System will serve as a single window for all welfare services, enabling the transparent and integrated management of the nation’s comprehensive livelihood support programs. This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to leveraging technology to reduce bureaucracy, enhance service delivery, and promote social justice for all citizens.
