Iran Streamlines Subsidy System with New Digital Platform
In a significant step towards administrative modernization, Iranian authorities have announced a major update to the national subsidy system, centralizing all procedures through a dedicated digital platform.
A Shift to Digital Efficiency
According to Seyed Alireza Mousavi, Head of the Information Technology Center at the Subsidy Targeting Organization, the process for registering household changes has been fully digitized. Previously, updates related to marriage, divorce, birth, death, and custody were processed through various offices.
“Today, with the launch of the Civil Registration System and other platforms, this process has been completely closed,” Mousavi stated. “Currently, the only service for receiving subsidies is provided through the ‘Simin’ system (Household Pattern Modification platform).”
Enhanced Service Delivery
The official highlighted the considerable progress in Iran’s digital economy and electronic services, noting that advancements achieved in the past year were equivalent to what was projected to take seven or eight years. This acceleration is attributed to the dedicated efforts of the teams involved.
Mousavi explained that household structure information is now easily accessible electronically through the National Information Window, under the custodianship of the Civil Registration Organization. Correspondingly, all subsidy-related services are managed through this streamlined digital approach.
Bank Account Registration is Key
Addressing a critical requirement for recipients, Mousavi emphasized the absolute necessity of registering a bank account. He clarified that the possession of a valid, registered account number is the primary element for any payment to be processed.
“Unfortunately, if I do not have an account number from an individual, I cannot take any action for payment,” he said. “Even if a person is eligible for cash subsidies, payment will not be possible without a registered bank account.”
The official confirmed that the initiative to register bank accounts for all households across the country is a national project. Any citizen can access these services by logging into the system with their own registered mobile number.
This comprehensive digital transformation is expected to not only simplify administrative procedures for citizens but also significantly enhance the overall efficiency and targeting of the national subsidy system.
