Persepolis Reshuffles Coaching Staff, Appoints Club Legend to Lead Youth Team
In a significant move concerning its future development, the Iranian football club Persepolis has announced a change in the leadership of its youth team.
Abbas Aghaei has resigned from his position as head coach of the Persepolis Omid (youth) team. The club has officially confirmed this development through an official announcement.
Following the resignation, the club has moved swiftly to ensure stability. Edmund Bezik, a former legendary striker for the club, has been entrusted with the technical responsibility of the Omid team. This appointment is on an interim basis until a permanent head coach for the senior team is selected, at which point a permanent decision for the youth squad will likely follow.
A Return of a Beloved Figure
Edmund Bezik is a revered name in Persepolis folklore. During the 1990s and 2000s, he was one of the team’s key and most prominent strikers, cementing his place in the hearts of fans by scoring crucial and memorable goals throughout his playing career.
Upon retiring, Bezik transitioned into coaching. At the beginning of the current season, he was appointed by Reza Shahroudi as the deputy head of the Persepolis Football Academy. His most recent coaching role was as head coach of Kia Tehran’s youth team last season, where he delivered a commendable performance in youth competitions. His move to Persepolis was the result of an offer to collaborate with the club’s esteemed academy.
This new role marks the next chapter in his long association with the club, presenting him with a new challenge at the helm of the youth team for the club he loves.
