Title: Persepolis Legend Addresses Managerial Speculation: “It Wasn’t Meant To Be”
In the midst of a challenging period for the popular Tehran football club Persepolis, former star and current coach Farshad Pious has addressed the recent speculation surrounding his potential as the team’s manager.
A Vocal Ambition
Earlier this season, Pious, a former goalscorer for the Reds who has built his coaching career in Iran’s lower leagues, made headlines. In several interviews, he openly expressed his desire to take the helm at Persepolis. He confidently stated that he had even pre-selected his technical staff and guaranteed that, if given the opportunity, he would lead the team to a championship title.
A Philosophical Response
Now, as the coach of Qeshm Floating Ship in the First Division, Pious was asked to comment once more on the managerial discussions. Following his team’s recent draw, he offered a more philosophical perspective.
“It’s written on my forehead that they won’t let me become Persepolis’s head coach!” Pious remarked. “It must have been God’s will, and it simply wasn’t my destiny.”
A Coach’s Confidence and Respect for the Choice
When pressed on his previous assertive comments, Pious framed his ambition as a professional challenge. “This is also a challenge. Coaching is my profession, and I love my job. We have demonstrated our capabilities in recent years with our promotions from League Two to League One and to the Premier League. I would have loved to coach Persepolis,” he affirmed.
Showing respect for the club’s decision-making, Pious also commented on the appointment of Osmar Vieira following Vahid Hashemian’s departure. “Osmar was a good choice,” he conceded. “He was even a better option than me for Persepolis! Because the players like him, and that is very important. Nevertheless, it’s written on my forehead that you cannot become the head coach of Persepolis.”
