Title: Tehran Derby Venue Under Discussion as Persepolis and Esteghlal Prepare for Clash
Tehran – The location for the upcoming Tehran derby between Persepolis and Esteghlal is still to be determined, according to a club official, who emphasized that the primary goal is to hold the match in the capital city.
Venue Decision Pending
Mostafa Lashkari, the spokesman for Persepolis, confirmed that the club has sufficient time to finalize the venue for the match, which is scheduled for the twelfth week of the league season. “Our team is the host,” Lashkari stated, “but the selection of the stadium is not solely based on the club’s opinion. The views of the League Organization and other relevant institutions are also important, and the technical staff must confirm the final choice.”
Capital City Remains the Priority
Lashkari underscored that hosting the derby in Tehran is the main priority for the club. “All aspects will be examined, and the exact location of the match will be announced at an appropriate time in coordination with the League Organization,” he said, adding that no specific options have been formally presented to the league authorities thus far.
Dismissing Speculation
In response to circulating rumors suggesting the match could be moved to Qatar, the spokesman was unequivocal. “This matter is not on the table at all,” Lashkari stated, firmly dismissing the speculation. The comments highlight the ongoing logistical coordination between domestic football institutions to organize one of the nation’s most significant sporting events.
