In a significant administrative development, Tehran’s football giant, Persepolis, is undergoing a major leadership transition following a recent league match. The club’s board of directors has moved swiftly to ensure stability and a clear path forward for the beloved team.
A Resignation and a Swift Transition
The change was triggered by the resignation of CEO Reza Darvish, who stepped down from his position after four years of service. This decision came in the wake of the team’s 2-1 defeat against Kheybar Khorramabad in the seventh week of the Persian Gulf Pro League. In a seamless transition, Peyman Haddadi, the Chairman of the Board, has immediately assumed supervisory control over the club’s operations.

Ali Inanloo, a member of Persepolis’s board of directors, addressed the resignation, framing it as a conscientious choice. “Reza Darvish worked tirelessly during his tenure at Persepolis,” Inanloo stated. “However, given the circumstances that arose, he ultimately concluded, in a benevolent move, that his departure would be more beneficial for the club in the current situation and therefore resigned.”
Inanloo emphasized the board’s confidence in Haddadi’s experience, noting it was a logical step, especially with the club’s annual general assembly on the horizon.
Deliberation Over Technical Leadership
The board’s attention now turns to the technical future of the team, specifically the position of head coach Vahid Hashemian. Inanloo confirmed that a board meeting will be convened to make a measured decision.
“We must not act hastily or emotionally in this matter,” he explained. “We will first listen to Hashemian’s report, review the support the club provided him, and assess the outcomes. This is a technical discussion that requires consulting with experts before any final decision is made.”
While confirming that the club has identified “suitable and high-caliber options” for the coaching role, Inanloo stressed that the immediate priority is to decide on Hashemian’s continuation. “If we conclude that a separation from Hashemian is in Persepolis’s best interest, we will certainly have top-tier coaches to succeed him.”

Inanloo directly appealed to the legion of Persepolis fans, asking for patience and trust in the board’s process. “We ask the fans to allow the board to make decisions away from the heat of the moment,” he said. “We will not compromise on the interests of Persepolis, and the decision made will undoubtedly be for the benefit of the club and its supporters.”
