Title: A Player’s Pledge: Navigating Contractual Challenges with Faith and Fortitude
In an exclusive revelation, Hossein Shahriari, a 27-year-old goalkeeper, has detailed the professional and personal challenges he faced following a shocking medical diagnosis and the subsequent termination of his contract with Pars Jonoubi Jam. His story is one of resilience, faith, and a steadfast commitment to his career.
An Unexpected Halt
After joining Pars Jonoubi Jam last summer, Hossein Shahriari’s promising start was abruptly interrupted. Having played just one match, medical tests revealed a cardiac condition, sidelining him from football for several months. Consequently, the club made the decision to end its cooperation with the player.
Shahriari has since confirmed that his physical condition has improved and he is prepared to return to the pitch in the second half of the season.
A Test of Faith and Future
Reflecting on the tumultuous period, Shahriari stated, “After joining the team, events unfolded that were surprising for the sports community and, most of all, for me. But in the end, whatever happens is God’s will, and we cannot interfere. I always have faith in good intentions and the right path.” He echoed the sentiment of fellow player Mehdi Taremi, noting, “There is goodness in the continuation of the path,” and acknowledged that destiny sometimes leads one down unexpected routes.
Regarding his initial decision to join the club, he explained that while he had offers from top-tier teams, many saw him as a backup goalkeeper. Seeking more playing time, he chose a team with clear ambitions. “Pars Jam was a team aiming for promotion, and I wanted to gain a different experience on that path. Unfortunately, I later encountered problems that led to my separation,” he added.
Medical Clearance and Professional Resolve
Addressing his health directly, Shahriari provided reassurance. “Fortunately, there is no specific problem. In the hearts of professional athletes, certain conditions are common and are not considered an issue until a certain threshold.” He is currently under a doctor’s supervision and, after undergoing new tests, MRIs, and ECGs, has received confirmation that his condition is favorable.
At 27, his motivation remains undimmed. “My goal has always been to be active as the first-choice goalkeeper and to fight for my position. If a coach decides I won’t play, I will not stop training and striving. I have worked for years to reach this level and I certainly will not retreat easily,” Shahriari declared.
Club Allegiance and Contractual Disputes
With pride, Shahriari affirmed his lifelong loyalty to Persepolis, one of Iran’s most popular football clubs. “I proudly declare that I am a Persepolis supporter. Our family is ‘red’ through and through; we are born Persepolis fans,” he said.
The separation from Pars Jonoubi Jam, however, was fraught with difficulty. Shahriari revealed that his contract was terminated unilaterally by the club without his knowledge. He described a prior discussion where a 30% payment of his contract was promised, but the final termination document he was asked to sign contained no financial settlement. “That night, the club terminated the contract unilaterally without informing me. I found out two or three days later through my agent’s follow-up with the federation,” he explained.
He expressed disappointment, stating he had expected more support from the club, especially given the ongoing personal challenge of his mother’s illness. “I expected the club to stand by me in such a situation. This treatment was upsetting,” Shahriari shared.
The Path to Resolution
The matter of his financial claims remains unresolved. Shahriari noted that the club’s officials had promised payment, but weeks passed without action. He described a subsequent communication where the club’s CEO suggested a payment of less than 15% and advised against “threatening” the club with a formal complaint. “We had no intention to threaten; we simply had a logical request for follow-up,” Shahriari clarified. He confirmed that while the club has since contacted him, suggesting the withdrawal of his complaint to reach an agreement, a final settlement has not yet been achieved.
Through these professional trials, Hossein Shahriari’s narrative stands as a testament to patience and perseverance in the face of unforeseen adversity.
