Persistence Pays Off: Persepolis Women’s Team Poised for Championship Challenge
TEHRAN – Under the guidance of former national team coach Maryam Azmoun, the Persepolis Women’s Football Team is preparing for its highly anticipated debut in the Women’s Premier League, marking a rapid and impressive ascent in Iranian football.
Less than ten days remain before the team’s first-ever top-flight match against Esteghlal Alborz. This milestone comes in only the club’s second official year of operation, a testament to its ambitious and successful development program.
A Coach with a Winning Pedigree
Head coach Maryam Azmoun, who brings experience from her tenure with the national team, firmly believes the team is ready for the challenge. Addressing the speed of their rise, Azmoun stated, “It is not too soon at all. I did not come from outside of football; I came to the Premier League from the national teams.”
Speaking on the team’s preparation, she expressed strong confidence. “For the beginning, the team’s condition is satisfactory, and after every training session, a noticeable difference can be felt. I have a positive impression of the team’s situation.”
Stars Aligning on the Pitch
Coach Azmoun heaped praise on her squad, highlighting both individual talent and collective unity. “Each and every one of my players is a star. We respect our opponent, but the Persepolis girls are extraordinary. We just need a little more time for each player to fully settle into the lineup,” she remarked.
Eyes on the Prize
The ambitions for the season are clear. Azmoun confirmed that the club’s management has structured its plans with a championship-winning vision. This objective is bolstered by strong fan support, which Azmoun identified as a key asset for the team.
“We have excellent fans who are considered the team’s capital,” she said. “Our aim is to move forward with their support and backing in such a way that we ultimately achieve a satisfactory result.”
