Pezeshkian Reaffirms Iran’s Non-Nuclear Stance, Malaysia Defends Sovereignty Amid Regional Tensions
Tehran, Iran – Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian held a pivotal telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, addressing pressing regional and international developments following recent military actions. The leaders underscored their shared commitment to regional stability, with President Pezeshkian reiterating Iran’s long-standing non-nuclear weapons policy and PM Ibrahim championing the inviolability of Iran’s national sovereignty.
Iran’s Defensive Posture and Call for Unity
President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s recent actions, which included targeting U.S. military bases and centers in the region, constituted a “natural response” to what he described as originating aggressions against Iran. He urged Muslim nations to prevent adversaries from exploiting such incidents to sow discord or ignite further conflict.
“Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons, a fact consistently affirmed by numerous reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency,” President Pezeshkian stated. He characterized claims of Iran’s nuclear weapons aspirations as a mere pretext to justify what he termed “illegal and inhumane aggression” against the Iranian nation and its territorial integrity. The President articulated Iran’s desire for a complete cessation of hostilities and the establishment of peace and security across the region, expressing hope that collaboration with “brotherly and Muslim countries” could avert a broader catastrophe.
Malaysia Champions Sovereignty and Diplomatic Resolution
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during the call, extended condolences for recent losses of Iranian officials and citizens, expressing profound solidarity and sympathy with the government and people of Iran. He highlighted a recent resolution passed by the Malaysian Parliament, proposed by his office, that condemned alleged U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran.
The Malaysian Premier reaffirmed his country’s principled stance against any infringement upon Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He echoed Iran’s rightful position on the imperative to end hostilities against the Islamic Ummah across the region and to guarantee no further military aggression against Iran. Expressing concern over escalating tensions in West Asia, Prime Minister Ibrahim stressed the critical need for sustained diplomatic efforts by Islamic nations to foster stability and security in the region.
This high-level exchange signals a convergence of views between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur on critical geopolitical issues, emphasizing a shared desire for de-escalation and respect for national sovereignty in a volatile region.
