Scheduled Power Outages in Kermanshah: Official Timetable and National Energy Strategy
KERMANSHAH – A detailed schedule for planned electricity outages in Kermanshah this Friday has been officially published. Residents are advised to consult online platforms to manage their daily routines around these necessary interruptions, which are part of a broader, nationally coordinated effort to ensure grid stability.
The official timetable, which specifies exact times and affected neighborhoods, is available on dedicated applications and websites such as “Bargheman” (My Electricity). This proactive communication allows citizens to plan accordingly and mitigate any potential inconveniences.
A National Shift Towards Cleaner Energy
The implementation of scheduled outages is directly linked to a significant national policy decision: the cessation of mazut (heavy fuel oil) consumption in power plants, which began earlier this month. This decisive environmental measure, aimed at safeguarding public health, has however resulted in a 33% reduction in the country’s power plant fuel reserves. To prevent a total grid failure and manage this shortfall, controlled, scheduled outages have been introduced in various regions, including Kermanshah.
Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mahagerani confirmed the move last week, stating that “regulated power cuts” would be implemented across the country, with Tehran being a primary focus.
Government Prioritizes Public Health and Sustainable Development
In recent press briefings, Spokesperson Mahagerani elaborated on the government’s position, framing it as a choice between public health and continuous power. “Faced with the dichotomy of power cuts versus burning mazut, the government’s emphasis is on the health of the people,” she stated. “Therefore, the decision was made to reduce mazut consumption in power plants. This, of course, means power outages in some areas are unavoidable.”
This policy is aligned with a larger strategic pivot towards sustainable energy. The President has strongly endorsed the production of clean energy and has held numerous meetings with investors to seriously advance projects for generating 30,000 megawatts of electricity from solar, wind, and nuclear sources. This initiative is designed to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and improve the nation’s long-term power generation capacity.
Preparing for Increased Winter Demand
The approach of winter, which brings a substantial increase in domestic natural gas consumption, has further compounded the situation. With gas supplies being prioritized for household heating, power plants face fuel shortages, making planned outages a necessary tool for managing electricity consumption and preventing undue strain on the national grid.
How to Access the Outage Schedules
To ensure citizens have immediate access to information, several official channels have been established:
- The “Bargheman” website and app: Consumers can input their 13-digit bill ID to receive precise outage times for their area.
- The Tehran Power Distribution Company website (tbtb.ir): Features a regularly updated “Outage Notifications” section.
- SMS code #121500: By dialing this code and entering their bill ID, subscribers can receive outage information directly.
The public is encouraged to utilize these official resources for the most accurate and up-to-date information to effectively plan their activities.
