A Tragic Incident During a Rescue Mission
A humanitarian rescue mission in the Lorestan province has ended in tragedy. According to initial reports, a helicopter from the Iranian Red Crescent Society, dispatched for search and rescue operations in the mountainous region of Oshtorankuh, was involved in an accident on the afternoon of October 3rd.
The helicopter was on a critical mission to locate a missing woman at an altitude of 4,000 meters in the Chalkaboud area when the incident occurred at approximately 2,800 meters. The aircraft was carrying eight individuals, comprising both the flight crew and Red Crescent rescue personnel.
Emergency Response and Casualties
Ali Mohammadi, the head of the Lorestan Red Crescent, confirmed that emergency response was immediately mobilized. Six operational teams were dispatched to the remote and challenging accident site to assist in the rescue and investigation efforts.
Tragically, the incident resulted in the loss of one dedicated crew member. Engineer Mirhossein Ghazi lost his life in the accident. The other seven individuals on board sustained injuries, and rescue operations to locate and provide them with medical care are actively continuing.
Honoring the Crew’s Service
The names of the rescue and flight personnel involved in this incident have been released, honoring their service and commitment to saving lives. The rescue workers on board were identified as Ali Janbozorgi, Shahin Janbozorgi, Reza Jadidi, Sobhan Khalilabad, and Hamidreza Jalali. The flight crew consisted of Captain Mohsen Mehrabzadeh, Captain Ali Sadeghi Rad, the late Engineer Mirhossein Ghazi, and Ali Goodarzi.
