Iran Approves Major Funding Package to Settle Social Security Obligations
In a significant move to bolster the nation’s social welfare system, a high-level economic coordination council has approved a comprehensive plan to address outstanding financial commitments to the Social Security Organization.
A Landmark Economic Decision
During a recent session of the High Council for Economic Coordination of the Heads of Branches of Power, a major resolution was passed. The government is now mandated to settle obligations to the Social Security Organization, amounting to 18,500 trillion tomans. This substantial sum will be delivered through a combination of 7,000 trillion tomans in Islamic financial bonds and 11,500 trillion tomans in shares and assets.
Implementation and Impact
Following the official notification of this resolution and the allocation of credit, the multi-stage process of issuing the approved bonds and converting them into liquid assets will commence. Once this liquidity is secured, it will be used to pay the claims of both university-affiliated and non-university medical centers, as well as supplementary medical insurance providers.
Payment Schedule for Retirees Announced
In a related development concerning direct citizen benefits, the organization has announced the schedule for paying remaining salary adjustments. The process for settling the overdue salary adjustments and annual increases related to the month of Farvardin for the remaining eligible retirees and pensioners will begin gradually and continuously from Monday, Mehr 21st. These payments will be processed through agent banks.
This marks the next phase of a structured payment plan. The first phase was completed on Shahrivar 12th for all retirees with a total income of up to 20 million tomans, as well as all disabled pensioners. The second phase was then executed for all survivor pensioners concurrently with their Shahrivar monthly payments.
