Head of Parliamentary Education Committee Outlines Key Priorities and Addresses Pension Payments
In a recent interview, the head of Iran’s Parliamentary Education and Research Committee detailed the body’s new priorities and provided a key update on long-awaited pension payments for retirees.
Committee Leadership and Direction
Alireza Monadi, who was recently re-elected as Chairman of the committee for another term, emphasized the panel’s focus on close coordination with the government and the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. This collaboration aims to effectively implement the overarching directives for the country’s education system. Despite various critiques, the committee has worked to bring educational policies closer to execution.
Focus on Early Childhood Education
A primary and groundbreaking focus for the new term will be on the education and upbringing of children under seven years old. Chairman Monadi highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “We have 7.5 million children aged zero to six. We have special programs for these children, for which resources have also been allocated. God willing, you will see the output soon.”
Update on Retiree End-of-Service Benefits
Addressing a matter of significant public interest, Monadi provided a clear update on the payment of end-of-service bonuses for retirees. He confirmed that the President had pledged these payments would be made promptly.
“Due to the emerging imposed war, we witnessed a delay,” Monadi stated, referring to recent regional conflicts. “This issue will certainly be addressed soon, and the end-of-service bonus for retirees will be paid.”
He offered a concrete timeline, adding, “God willing, the end-of-service bonus for the year 1403 (2024/2025) retirees will be paid by the end of Shahrivar (late September). The process for some 1403 retirees is already underway, and soon all cultural retirees from this year will receive their bonus.”
This announcement signals progress on a key commitment to the retiree community, with the committee chairman expressing confidence in the resolution of the matter.
