New Support Measures Announced for Retired Military Personnel
In a move to enhance the welfare of its citizens, new government initiatives have been detailed to provide financial support for retired military personnel and their families facing significant medical challenges.
Eligibility for Nursing Allowance
According to Amir Rahbar, an official associated with the Armed Forces Pension Fund, retirees from the armed forces may be eligible for a special nursing allowance. This financial assistance is available to those retirees, or their family members, who are suffering from specific, severe medical conditions, provided the illness aligns with the officially announced criteria.
Qualifying Medical Conditions
The list of conditions covered by this allowance is comprehensive and includes:
- Intellectual disability with an IQ below 50
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Motor disorders (Dystrophy)
- Permanent paralysis (affecting at least two limbs)
- Cerebral palsy
- Spinal cord injury
- Severe rheumatism
- Coma or a persistent vegetative state lasting more than two months
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Advanced cancers
- Chronic respiratory failure
- Patients requiring dialysis
Allowance Amount Determined by Assessment
Rahbar clarified that the amount of the nursing allowance is not fixed and varies depending on the specific nature and severity of the diagnosed illness. He emphasized that the final allocation is determined following a thorough review of the patient’s condition by the High Medical Commission, ensuring the financial support is appropriately tailored to individual needs.
This initiative underscores the ongoing commitment to supporting the well-being of retirees who have served their nation.
