Staggered Pension Disbursement for Social Security Retirees Begins Alphabetically
Iran’s Social Security Organization has initiated its scheduled disbursement of monthly pensions, with payments being processed over a three-day period according to a structured alphabetical system. This methodical approach is designed to ensure the smooth operation of the banking system and guarantee all retirees receive their funds without delay.
The payments, which include the monthly pension, any arrears, and supplementary benefits, commenced on the first day of the Iranian month of Mehr (September 21, 2024) and will conclude on the third day (September 23, 2024). The organization has assured all retirees that they will be able to access their funds after the announced transfer times and that there is no need for in-person branch visits.
A Commitment to Timely Payments
The disbursement schedule is as follows:
- Day 1: Retirees with last names beginning with letters Alef to Che (ا to چ)
- Day 2: Retirees with last names beginning with letters Heh to Shin (ح to ش)
- Day 3: Retirees with last names beginning with letters Sad to Ye (ص to ی)
This system ensures that all of the organization’s nearly 5 million pensioners will have received their payments by the end of the operational period.
Addressing Broader Financial Commitments
The news of the disbursement follows a recent legal council meeting of the Social Security Organization, where its Managing Director, Mostafa Salari, underscored the organization’s vast commitments. He highlighted that the organization provides pension payments to 4.9 million individuals and offers healthcare services to 48 million citizens.
Mr. Salari addressed the financial challenges of meeting these obligations, which are estimated at 125 quadrillion rials for the current year. He pointed to a recent shortfall in insurance premium collections due to specific national conditions and outlined a series of twenty transformative plans aimed at increasing revenue and controlling expenditures. These measures include restructuring hazardous occupations and addressing issues such as the non-declaration of real wages and insurance evasion in some workshops.
The organization remains focused on its mandate to effectively serve its beneficiaries and manage its resources prudently to ensure the continued fulfillment of its significant social responsibilities.
