Russia Warns Israeli Actions Threaten Middle East Stability
Moscow reiterates commitment to regional peace and cooperation amid escalating tensions.
Moscow, [Date of Publication] – Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong warning, stating that Israeli military actions are severely jeopardizing the fragile peace process in the Middle East. The ministry emphasized Moscow’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with its partners to achieve sustainable stability throughout Lebanon and the broader region.
In a statement released via the ministry’s official website, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova declared that “these hostile actions pose a threat to the destruction of ongoing negotiation processes and significantly increase the risk of a resurgence of a widespread armed confrontation in the Middle East.”
Zakharova specifically highlighted that recent attacks on Lebanon occurred immediately following the implementation of a two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. She asserted that this timing was particularly detrimental, occurring precisely when a diplomatic solution to the acute military and political crisis in the region had become a possibility. Moscow unequivocally supports an immediate cessation of hostilities in the conflict zone between Israel and Lebanon and a return to political and diplomatic pathways.
Echoing these concerns, Major General Esmail Qaani, Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, issued a stern admonition to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, warning that “a severe and humiliating punishment awaits the perpetrators of the brutal killings in Lebanon.”
Lebanese media outlets reported earlier today that an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Al-Shiyah district of Beirut’s southern suburbs resulted in civilian injuries. The Israeli military, in a statement, claimed to have targeted a Hezbollah rocket launch site and a residential tower utilized by the movement.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Lebanon announced that the death toll from Israeli attacks over the past day alone has risen to 254 martyrs, with 1165 individuals wounded.
