Russian Envoy: Iran’s Steadfastness Provokes US-Israeli Aggression
Islamabad, Pakistan – Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert Khorov, has sharply condemned what he described as US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, asserting that Tehran’s resolute will and refusal to bow to external pressure are key motivators behind these actions. Speaking at a media briefing at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, Khorov emphasized the need for diplomatic solutions while accusing the US and Israel of destabilizing the region.
Condemnation of Aggressive Acts
Ambassador Khorov strongly denounced various acts of aggression, highlighting what he called the “horrific crime” by the United States and Israel against innocent schoolgirls in Minab, Iran. He also condemned the targeting of high-ranking Iranian officials in the ongoing regional conflict, labeling such actions as a flagrant violation of international law and the principles of civilized relations between nations.
Khorov further alleged that the perpetrators are attempting to sow discord within the Islamic world during the holy month of Ramadan by creating rifts between Iran and its Arab neighbors.
Advocating for Diplomatic Resolution
The Russian envoy urged all parties to refrain from using force to resolve disputes. Instead, he advocated for a commitment to political and diplomatic solutions for all issues, grounded in the United Nations Charter and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). He stressed that any such resolution must also safeguard the legitimate security interests of all Persian Gulf and neighboring countries.
Unmasking Perceived Motives
Khorov asserted that the US-Israeli axis is using purported concerns about Iran’s potential pursuit of nuclear weapons as a cover for its true objectives. He referenced International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi’s statement from March 4th, affirming that the IAEA possesses no evidence of Iran developing nuclear weapons.
According to Ambassador Khorov, the actual goals of the United States and Israel are to undermine Iran’s constitutional order and dismantle the leadership of a nation they deem “undesirable.” He characterized Iran as a country that has consistently refused to succumb to “coercive dictates and dominance” from these powers. He further claimed that the US and Israel have initiated a military adventure, deliberately choosing the path of force, while simultaneously attempting to deflect blame for the escalating crisis in the Middle East onto Iran, portraying the Islamic Republic as an unprovoked aggressor.
The Burden of Sanctions
Addressing the economic pressures on Iran, Khorov highlighted the adverse impact of anti-Iranian economic sanctions primarily on the ordinary citizens of the country. He underscored that these sanctions have negatively affected the human rights situation in Iran, a point corroborated by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk on January 23rd, who had called for urgent international action to address the sanctions’ human rights implications.
A Culmination of Pressure
Ambassador Khorov concluded by stating that the US and Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which commenced on February 28th, represents the culmination of years of persistent Western efforts to exert pressure on Iran’s leadership, which the West has long viewed as “undesirable.”
