Iran’s Saipa Group Announces Pre-Sale for New Import-Assembled Vehicle Lineup
TEHRAN – In a significant move within Iran’s automotive sector, the Saipa Group has officially opened registration for the pre-sale of three new models. The initiative, which includes the assembled CS35, CS55, and marks the return of the Citroën brand with the C3-XR crossover, is structured to support a wide range of citizens through specific allocation categories.
The pre-sale scheme is designed to include general applicants, provide support for families and the youth population, and facilitate the replacement of aging vehicles, reflecting broader national economic and social priorities.
Pre-Sale Structure and Key Details
Prospective buyers must first register or update their personal information on the official Saipa system to receive a user ID and password. The registration window opened on Sunday, September 14, 2025, and will run until 24:00 on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Due to anticipated high demand, the process will conclude with a lottery draw. Only selected individuals will be able to proceed with the complete purchase process; applicants beyond the announced capacity will not be able to finalize their registration.
The required pre-payment amounts have been set at 1.05 billion tomans for the Saipa 441P model, approximately 972 million tomans for the Saipa 421P, and 765 million tomans for the Citroën C3-XR, which will be available in white, black, and graphite. Delivery for all successful applicants is scheduled for the final week of the current Iranian calendar year (mid-March 2026).
The Citroën C3-XR: A Noteworthy Return
A highlight of this pre-sale is the inclusion of the Citroën C3-XR, signifying the French brand’s re-entry into the Iranian market after a prolonged absence. This compact urban crossover, initially launched in 2014 and now in its updated 2021 version, is being assembled in Kashan through the Saipa-Citroën partnership and its Chinese affiliate, Dongfeng.
The vehicle is equipped with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 116 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque, paired with a German-made Getrag 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. It boasts a combined fuel consumption of 5.9 liters per 100 km.
Initially, only the base V1 trim will be available. This model offers features including automatic headlights, rain sensors, cruise control, a seatbelt warning system, and a gear shift indicator. Higher trims (V2 and V3) with additional amenities like curtain airbags, heated front seats, an electric sunroof, and keyless entry are not part of this initial pre-sale phase.
This launch represents a notable development in Iran’s automotive industry, expanding consumer choice and incorporating international collaboration in domestic production efforts.
