
Iranian Authorities Act Swiftly After Attack on MP’s Vehicle
Qazvin, Iran – Iranian authorities have swiftly arrested two individuals in connection with a shooting incident targeting the vehicle of Abbas Beigdel, the Member of Parliament for Takestan constituency. The incident, which fortunately left the lawmaker unharmed, has prompted a rapid response from law enforcement, underscoring the state’s commitment to security and the rule of law.
MP’s Vehicle Targeted in Qazvin
The personal vehicle of MP Abbas Beigdel was struck by shotgun pellets on Monday night. The incident occurred within the Takestan constituency, located in Qazvin province. Fortunately, Mr. Beigdel escaped the attack without injury and is reported to be in full health, allowing him to continue his duties.
Swift Arrests and Judicial Action
Ali Asghar Askari, Qazvin’s Prosecutor General, confirmed the rapid apprehension of the two suspects. “Following the shooting incident involving the vehicle of Takestan’s representative, the perpetrators who carried out the shooting were identified and apprehended,” Askari stated. He further added that “through coordination with judicial enforcement officers, these individuals were arrested in the shortest possible time, and a judicial file has been opened against them.” The swift action highlights the effectiveness of Iran’s security apparatus in responding to incidents affecting public officials.
Nature of Incident Confirmed Non-Terrorist
Crucially, Prosecutor General Askari emphasized that initial investigations indicate the incident was not terror-related. “Based on the conducted investigations, this incident did not have a terrorist nature,” he affirmed. While confirming the non-terrorist nature, Askari noted that investigations are ongoing to explore all dimensions and motives behind the attack.
