Speaker of Parliament Honors Journalists, Stresses Media’s Role in National Unity
Tehran – In a ceremony marking Journalist Day, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, praised the bravery of journalists and underscored the critical role of media in defending national cohesion. The event, titled “Speak of Iran: Narrating Truth Requires Courage,” was held in Baharestan and attended by parliamentary journalists, photographers, and media personnel.
Ghalibaf extended his congratulations on Journalist Day and honored the memory of martyred journalists, particularly those who lost their lives in recent conflicts. “This day symbolizes the power of perspective, the pen, and the spoken word,” he emphasized.
The Battle of Narratives: Media as a Frontline Defender
Reflecting on his recent visit to Geneva for the Sixth Meeting of the Speakers of World Parliaments, Ghalibaf highlighted the growing influence of cognitive and media warfare, asserting that it far outweighs conventional military confrontation in shaping global perceptions.
“The war of narratives is ongoing,” he stated. “Journalists are on the frontlines of this battle, and while officials must provide accurate information, the media’s duty is to convey truth with courage.”
National Unity: A Testament to Iran’s Strength
Quoting the Holy Quran, Ghalibaf praised the unprecedented unity displayed by the Iranian people during recent challenges, describing it as a manifestation of divine support. “This solidarity, rooted in Iran’s deep culture and civilization, stunned intelligence analysts worldwide,” he remarked.
He urged officials and journalists alike to safeguard this unity, warning against “those who seek to undermine cohesion through divisive rhetoric or actions.”
A Call to Serve the Nation and Uphold Islamic Values
In his closing remarks, Ghalibaf called for unwavering commitment to public service and national defense. “We must honor the blood of martyrs by working tirelessly to resolve the nation’s challenges,” he declared. “The people stood united against adversity—now it is our duty to protect that unity.”
The ceremony reinforced the vital role of media in shaping Iran’s narrative while reaffirming the nation’s resilience in the face of external pressures.
